Logan Paul vs. The Miz (w/Tomasso Ciampa) [Grudge Match]

Logan Paul will defeat The Miz because Paul needs his revenge from The Miz’s post-match attack at Mania, where Paul had an impressive showing in their tag victory against the Mysterios. Also, Paul recently signed a contract with WWE, so he will obviously win his first match as an official WWE employee. It is understandable that The Miz is merely a veteran or hand who is there to put babyface talent over. However, the idea of a grand slam champion losing to a celebrity in a singles match at SummerSlam is still quite frankly booking malpractice.

Also, the idea of a celebrity even waltzing in to get handed a singles match at the biggest event of the summer is quite inane and regressive for the future of the division. To mitigate that damage, Ciampa’s random attacks against AJ Styles on Raw did hint at the idea of a tag match taking place instead. It is quite peculiar to see Ciampa shill himself to The Miz, but it would be nice to see a recent NXT call-up booked in a relevant storyline for the SummerSlam. Besides, Ciampa will inevitably betray The Miz to pursue his singles career.

Hopefully, AJ Styles & Logan Paul vs. The Miz & Ciampa gets booked on the go-home show because Styles, an established superstar, can help Paul win without Miz looking weak in defeat.

Prediction: Logan Paul (via pinfall)

Pat McAfee vs. Happy Corbin [Grudge Match]

Happy Corbin will defeat Pat McAfee because he is a professional wrestler who should not lose in a singles match to a former NFL player and current WWE commentator who won’t wrestle in the ring the next night. Corbin has been building up his character quite gradually in the past few months and has not won on PPV in 2022. Since the blandness of his character is deceptively brilliant, he needs this victory to redeem himself from his plethora of losses to Madcap Moss and gain sufficient momentum that will showcase his superiority in the depleted mid-card vortex.

Like McAfee, Corbin left football to pursue professional wrestling but Corbin’s full-time experience in that ring will sensibly prevail in his journey to a future title opportunity down the line.
