Bianca Belair must defeat Becky Lynch at SummerSlam
This Saturday at SummerSlam, Bianca Belair will face Becky Lynch once again for the RAW Women’s Championship. Ironically, SummerSlam was the event where the feud between Belair and Lynch began. At last year’s SummerSlam, Belair was scheduled to defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks. Instead, the WWE Universe was surprised with a returning Lynch as Sasha’s replacement. Within 26 seconds, Lynch defeated Belair to become champion and start a long rivalry.
Throughout Lynch’s run as RAW Women’s Champion, Belair was in the pursuit of proving she can defeat Lynch. Belair would get her shot against Lynch on the November 1, 2022, edition of RAW, but unfortunately, she came up short.
Although Belair took defeat once again, not once was she discouraged. Belair would then become the number one contender to challenge Becky at WrestleMania. At the show of shows, Belair finally overthrew Lynch to win the RAW Women’s Championship. Throughout Belair’s RAW Women’s title reign, she has beaten women such as Asuka and Carmella. Now that Lynch is finally getting her one-on-one shot, Belair must prove that her win against Lynch was not a fluke. This is why Belair must retain the championship this Saturday at SummerSlam.
There are still so many opponents that Belair can face. For starters, Belair was initially supposed to defend the RAW Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley a few weeks back at the Money in the Bank event. Due to an unfortunate injury to Ripley, she wasn’t able to challenge for the championship. Now that Ripley is back, Belair could have another chance to face a fellow NXT veteran. One thing that could be done is elevate the unfinished program between Belair and Ripley through the next WWE Premium Live Event, Clash at the Castle.
Another challenger that could come in the championship picture is Alexa Bliss. This past RAW, Bliss stated that she will be coming for whomever the RAW Women’s Champion may be after SummerSlam. Whether it’s Bliss or Ripley, these feuds would be new and fresh for Belair if she successfully retains at SummerSlam.
