#4: Sting

Much like the debut of Malakai Black, the debut of Sting was an absolute shock to the wrestling world.

The rumor was out there that Sting and AEW had a mutual interest in working together, but no one expected Sting to come into AEW and compete at the level that “The Icon” is currently competing at.  After all, the man is sixty-two years old.

But because of the effectiveness of Sting, not only in cinematic matches but also in live matches, Sting is extremely deserving of a spot on this list.

The fact that Sting is doing his thing in AEW means that a whole new generation of fans is getting to see one of the pioneers of professional wrestling and that should never be understated.

How much longer Sting will continue to compete is anyone’s guess, he may just be the Tom Brady of professional wrestling.  But wrestling fans everywhere should enjoy this last unexpected run by of the greats of all time.

#3: Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson

Ok, this may be cheating.  But since they debuted within minutes of each other they are sharing the number three spot on the list of top five AEW debuts.

The debut of Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole did not surprise the way that Sting and Malakai Black did, but the fact that they debuted within minutes of each other was indeed a shock.

This was a big debut for the obvious reason that these were two very talented wrestlers that were being added to the roster of  AEW.  Even more so, it was two talents that WWE wanted to resign, yet both men chose to go to AEW instead.

This was a big night for All Elite Wrestling as it proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that AEW could compete with WWE when it came to enticing top talent to their promotion, as Danielson and Cole were top stars on the WWE main roster and in NXT respectively.
