Toxic Attraction replaces injured Zoey Stark and Nikita Lyons
WWE main roster gets their first taste of Toxic Attraction in tag team tournament.
With Zoey Stark’s reported injury, she and Nikkita Lyons have been pulled from the WWE Women’s Tag Team Tournament. According to PWInsider, they have been replaced by Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne). Toxic Attraction will face the team of Sonya Deville and Natalya on tonight’s SmackDown.
On Wrestling Observer’s Bryan and Vinny Show, Alvarez said Stark was injured this past Tuesday at NXT Heatwave. Stark challenged Toxic Attraction leader, Mandy Rose for the NXT Women’s Championship. In the match, Rose kept targeting Stark’s surgically repaired knee. Rose defeated Stark with her own knee brace.
Stark just made her return to WWE on July 19 after missing eight months with a torn ACL and meniscus. During her return, she won a 20-woman battle royal. Stark is a former NXT tag team champion with Io Shirai.
The women’s tag team tournament began on August 8, taking place on RAW and SmackDown. IYO SKY and Dakota Kai, Alexa Bliss and Asuka, Raquel Rodriguez, and Aliyah have advanced to the next round of the tournament.
At this time, we are waiting to hear what the injury is, its extent, and how long she’ll be out.
This could be the move to bring Toxic Attraction to the main roster
There’s been a lot of talk about bringing Toxic Attraction to the main roster and where they would fit in the women’s division. This could be the opportunity to start that movement, bringing the “rebuilding” of Mandy Rose full circle. Dolin and Jayne help build out the tag division, as WWE apparently shows more commitment to that division, plus Rose is another individual who could become a top heel on either show.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to Daily DDT for the latest.
