AEW All Out should feature a women’s Casino Ladder Match
It’s time to give the women of AEW a Casino Ladder Match at All Out.
There’s a lot to look forward to as AEW All Out creeps up in a few weeks. The CM Punk versus Jon Moxley situation is more than enough to keep everyone talking, but it looks like the situation will come to a head weeks before the PPV. One update fans are looking for is how the women will be involved, with one match announced so far. If AEW wants to show a commitment to women’s wrestling, this is the time to put on a women’s Casino Ladder Match.
Currently, the only women’s match announced for the PPV is the rematch between Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship. Due to how Rosa has been booked as a champion, this match doesn’t have as much heat as one would expect looking back just a few short months ago. Fans should also expect Athena and Jade Cargill to compete for the TBS Championship, but that angle hasn’t received the level of attention expected either.
Even though much change hasn’t occurred, fans continue to push All Elite Wrestling and Tony Khan to improve how women are used in the promotion. Khan has talked a big game about it, but the results haven’t translated fully to television. Announcing a women’s Casino Ladder Match would go a long way in changing the tone of the situation.
The outcome would build new challengers at a time when they are needed
Beyond Athena and Storm, the list of ready challengers for either championship is quite sparse. Much of this is due to the company not dedicating enough time and storytelling to keep enough of the roster hot in the eyes of viewers. Kris Statlander’s injury created a big hole in the roster as well.
Yet, giving fans the first women’s ladder match in AEW history would be a big boost to the division. This would be an opportunity to include names like Anna Jay, Tay Melo, and Julia Hart on a major PPV. Throw in former champions like Hikaru Shida and Riho for added importance to the match. Even individuals from Ring of Honor like Mercedes Martinez or Willow Nightingale would be exceptional additions to a ladder match. And you know AEW would find a way to get Britt Baker involved. There’s enough talent on this roster that AEW could easily pull off a strong ladder match.
The men are scheduled to have their own Casino Ladder Match at All Out and the women should get the same opportunity on the show. The simple announcement of such would catch a lot of people by surprise and go a long way in showing that AEW has the commitment to this division that hasn’t come through on television yet.
