AEW Dynamite is back this Wednesday and will be broadcast live on TBS from Albany, NY as the promotion’s flagship show airs its final episode before the big Grand Slam event in Arthur Ashe Stadium on September, 21st.

This week’s show will go a long to determine the main event of the Dynamite portion of the Grand Slam show as we are set to get both tournament semifinal matches this Wednesday.

In addition to that, four of the most talented women that the promotion has to offer will do battle in a tag team match, when the newly crowned interim champion, Toni Storm, teams with Hikaru Shida to take on Britt Baker and Serena Deeb.

And of course, an AEW show in New York would not be complete without getting to hear from the devil himself, Maxwell Jacob Friedman.  MJF will most likely have a lot to say about the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions as he is holding the poker chip that gives him the right to a title shot any time he wants it.

Let’s take a look at the announced matches for AEW Dynamite and what to expect from each.

Sammy Guevara vs Jon Moxley in a Grand Slam Tournament of Champions Semifinal

After beating Darby Allin in a highly questionable booking decision last week, Sammy Guevara will meet Jon Moxley for the right to advance to the finals of the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions.  But this is where Sammy’s luck will come to an end.

In last week’s promo, Jon Moxley hinted at the fact that he was supposed to be on vacation following All Out.  But with all the uncertainty surrounding many of the promotion’s top stars, it seems that Tony Khan has called in a favor and requested Mox postpone that vacation for the immediate future.

And it is very hard to believe that Mox put off his vacation plans to do a job for Sammy Guevara.

The outside distractions from Tay Melo and any number of other Jericho Appreciation Society members will keep the match interesting, but the outcome is set in stone.  Jon Moxley will be wrestling for the AEW World Title again, and he will be doing so very soon.  Winner: Jon Moxley

Toni Storm & Hikaru Shida vs Britt Baker & Serena Deeb

The new interim AEW Women’s Champion, Toni Storm, will team up with Hikaru Shida on Wednesday to take on another makeshift team in Britt Baker and Serena Deeb.

There are a couple of different stories that this match can tell.  The fractured relationship between Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter could rear its head in this match, with Hayter getting a measure of revenge by costing Baker and Deeb a win here.

Or this can be about setting up the next challenger for Toni Storm’s interim AEW Women’s Title.  And with Grand Slam right around the corner, that is the most likely story this match will tell.

Deeb will pin Storm in this match, leading to her asking for a title shot against Storm the following week at Arther Ashe Stadium.  Winners: Britt Baker & Serena Deeb

Bryan Danielson vs Chris Jericho in a Grand Slam Tournament of Champions Semifinal

In an All Out rematch that saw Chris Jericho score a victory over Bryan Danielson, The American Dragon will get a shot at redemption on Wednesday night as he once again steps into the ring with Chirs Jericho.

Any match that involves Chris Jericho carries with it a high chance of Chris Jericho walking out the winner.  However, that cannot happen here.

Danielson came into AEW red hot.  After fantastic matches with Kenny Omega and Adam Page, Danielson joined forces with Jon Moxley and Steven Regal to join the Blackpool Combat Club.  Since joining the BCC, Danielson hasn’t had a chance to be at the forefront of the AEW singles division the way he was when he first came into AEW, until now.

With the status of many of the top stars in AEW up in the air and Jon Moxley already having multiple AEW World Title runs, this is the perfect opportunity for Bryan Danielson to regain some of that same mojo he came to AEW with, and moving on in this tournament semifinal is the perfect opportunity for him to do so.  Winner: Bryan Danielson
