AEW Rampage: Chris Jericho wants to be an ROH Champion
During AEW Rampage, ROH World Champion, Claudio Castagnoli, addressed the crowd. He was accompanied by former ROH Pure Champion, Wheeler Yuta. Castagnoli said Blackpool Combat Club is “a team, a family, and we make each other better.”
He addressed Bryan Danielson facing Jon Moxley next week to become AEW World Champion. He declared that Blackpool Combat Club will have two World Champions next week.
The champion was cut off by Chris Jericho, who left the announce table to insert himself into BCC business and remind everyone that Jericho Appreciation Society matters. Jericho said that he should be AEW World Champion, but Castagnoli reminds him that he tapped out to Danielson. Jericho ran down his past championships: “seven-time World Champion. I’ve been a champion in WWF, WWE, WCW. I was the first AEW World Champion.”
He got to the point of why he interrupted Castagnoli in the first place. “Not only am I the best wrestler ever and the best sports entertainer ever, the “BWeeBC”, the one place I’ve never been World Champion is in Ring of Honor. And seven isn’t enough for me, man. I’m going for the Ocho!” He officially challenged Castagnoli for the ROH World Championship next week on Dynamite.
Castagnoli said he’d been waiting for that match for a “long, long, long, long, long time” and accepted. Jericho has been wrestling as “Lionheart” as of late and this is the version that needs to take on Castagnoli. Castagnoli is one of the best wrestlers and needs opponents who are at their best when competing for his title. Jericho has had some of his best matches in a long time as of late. These two should have a great match.
While Jericho makes a good case for why he should be the next ROH World Champion, Castagnoli is early into his title reign. He has only defended his title five times. After waiting years to finally become ROH World Champion, he deserves a long title reign. No “Le Champion” in ROH.
