Willow Nightingale must defeat Jade Cargill at Battle of the Belts IV

Now is the time. Now is the time for Jade Cargill to suffer her first defeat as a professional wrestler and it must come at the hands of Willow Nightingale at AEW Battle of the Belts IV. During the October 5 edition of AEW Dynamite, Nightingale challenged Cargill to a match for the TBS Championship and after suffering two defeats, this is the moment that AEW should pull the trigger to put a title on Nightingale to build her into a central figure for this women’s division.

It’s been said multiple times that Willow Nightingale is a perfect candidate to be the woman to finally defeat Cargill. Anyone familiar with her persona in wrestling would know that she’s the perfect opposite of the overwhelming confidence that Cargill displays in her character. If AEW dedicated long-term stories to the women’s division, they would have a fantastic tale to tell between these two women. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case, but that has not detracted from how popular either of these ladies has become in such a brief time.

Nightingale is one of the few women on the roster that remain organically over with the crowd. Listen to the reaction that she and Jamie Hayter received during their introductions for Wednesday’s match, or when the two ladies squared off to exchange blows during last week’s show. Nightingale has consistently received big reactions from fans since she was first introduced to the AEW fanbase back in 2021. She was one of those beloved wrestlers from the independent scene that hardcore viewers recognized, but her appeal immediately caught on with casual fans alike.

AEW has an opportunity to put some of the spotlights in the right place with this upcoming matchup between Cargill and Nightingale. With so many backstage issues raging among the men’s division, now is the time to put some of that shine on the women. It’s also important to take some of that energy and put it into these two women because it would be a major story for the division without involving Britt Baker, Saraya, Toni Storm, or the others, which is what fans have desperately asked to see.

It would be odd for AEW decision makers to put Cargill over on Nightingale for the third time. Even though only one of those matches was in a singles contest, it would be hard to rebuild Nightingale as a credible foil for any top name with her suffering another major loss at this time. She has all the makings of a big babyface star and Tony Khan needs to make the right decision at Battle of the Belts IV by putting the championship around her waist and giving Jade Cargill her first defeat.
