Matt Riddle should be Bray Wyatt’s first target and opponent
Bray Wyatt had some more cryptic messages for fans during the October 10 episode of Monday Night Raw. A video message and another QR code were shown on screen, continuing the mystery that saw his return at WWE Extreme Rules. One question that fans have is who will Wyatt target first and Matt Riddle is the perfect individual to suffer Wyatt’s return when the time is right.
One thing Wyatt will always do, it’s stuck to and honor the lore of his characters. Each step in the hidden messages pointing towards his return featured some hints linking Wyatt to previous foes and colleagues, ultimately tipping fans off on his comeback.
One of the last moments at WWE Extreme Rules saw Wyatt’s burned mask placed on the announcement desk in front of Michael Cole and Corey Graves, letting wrestling fans know that he hasn’t forgotten who last harmed him. Randy Orton is the man that set Wyatt on fire and he’s sidelined with a serious back injury. But Wyatt isn’t above hurting people close to his potential victims which places Riddle right in the proverbial crosshairs.
Coming off his big win over Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules, Riddle is in the right position to branch off into a storyline with Wyatt. He was used as a plot point in the continued narrative with the Bloodline on Raw, but it was also pointed out that he’s unable to challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Championship.
With all the other major players on both SmackDown and Raw tied up in other angles, it would make sense for Riddle to be a top target for Wyatt. Orton was last linked to Riddle through their successful tag team, RKO-Bro. In many ways, which played into Orton being refreshed in the eyes of viewers and helping him regain some of the momenta that seems to come and go throughout his career. Riddle continues to “pay tribute” to Orton, using plenty of his moves in each match.

Wyatt will need to attack and destroy a big target to make sure his return has an impact on the WWE roster and keeps fans engaged. Riddle is over with the fans right now and is in the right spot where his taking a devastating loss will not hinder his place on the roster much. With his links to Randy Orton and Wyatt’s past, Riddle is the top choice to be the first man to suffer at the hands of the returning Bray Wyatt.
