WWE Superstar, Sheamus, has been in the professional wrestling industry for 20 years now and in those twenty years, he has established for himself quite a legacy. Brute strength, and a stellar physique, and in the ring he’s had banger, after banger, after banger, after…well, you get the idea. A former Champion in WWE already, today we’ll be taking a look at why once again it’s time for Sheamus to have yet another title run.

And yes, we know that there have been those in history that didn’t even get a single go at a WWE major championship—a world title in essence—and the biggest tragedy in that department for myself and I’m sure many of you dear readers, is that the British Bulldog never had a run at the WWE title during his career, or rather the WWF title back then.

But I’m sure that even Davey is looking down and has been keeping his own keen eye on Sheamus, and who wouldn’t? Even Bret Hart has spoken golden words of praise on Sheamus, as he should. It was actually Hart that suggested that Sheamus train at Larry Sharpe’s Monster Factory way back in 2002…advice he’d take to heart, and Sheamus would pursue his studies in professional wrestling as was suggested by the in-ring legend.

Just recently, Sheamus and Gunther had an epic battle of extraordinary proportions in Cardiff, Wales at Clash At The Castle…a losing effort for Sheamus, but man did he leave it all out in the ring for sure.

They would have a rematch and a heck of a battle that would turn out to be as amazing; as the season premiere of SmackDown was. And it was just recently that Sheamus would tangle with a rising young talent…Solo Sikoa, yes, another descendent of The Rock’s tribal family…youngest son of Rikishi…and newest member of The Bloodline, and Sheamus would have some fightin’ words for the young Mr. Sikoa…on his multiple social media accounts, he’d state: “The end of the Bloodline starts with Solo. Ireland V Islanders. #CelticVengeance”

I’d say them’s fightin’ words for sure there lad, and if I were Solo, I’d be looking over my quivering shoulder for sure.

In all seriousness, Solo is a fierce competitor and a rising star no doubt, but I found it interesting that Sheamus would use those words in particular: “…the end of the bloodline…”

For years now, not one man—including John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and even Edge or Daniel Bryan (currently Bryan Danielson in AEW), has been able to take down Roman Reigns. Particularly aggravating was the loss Drew McIntyre suffered to Roman recently, and yes all because of the assist by the debuting Solo, and at Clash At The Castle no less.

Anyways, perhaps Sheamus can indeed have a go at that title. Perhaps this is what it’s all leading up to, his calling out the Bloodline and all. It would make for a great PPV main event and Sheamus does have The Brawling Brutes to help him out with the rest of The Bloodline if they get out of line.

It’s about time he gets a run at a major championship within the company anyways…and a match with him and Roman down the line could definitely draw; hopefully sooner rather than later of course.

It was after his training at the aforementioned Monster Factory that Sheamus, also known as Stephen Farrelly, would hit the independent circuit in Europe. All that hard work on that scene, where he would meet Drew McIntyre (Galloway…the two would become epic friends).

And their quest would take them both to FCW, Florida Championship Wrestling…WWE’s farm league or rather a developmental territory before NXT got started…. This was in 2007, after a string of appearances for WWE that started in 2006. Early on and in the indies, he would wrestle as Sheamus O’Shaunessy.

It was on an episode of ECW (then owned by WWE and a brand of their programming) that he would debut on the main roster in 2009. He’d take it by storm and it wouldn’t be long before he made quite the impression on the WWE Universe. And it wouldn’t be long as well before he tasted gold…many times over.

Sheamus is a former 3 time WWE Champion, a former World Heavyweight Champion (1 time), and the former United States Champion (3 times); he is a 4-time Raw Tag Team Champion (w/ Cesaro—yet another epic period of his career, they both wrestling as The Bar), and 1-time SmackDown tag team champion (also with Cesaro).

He is a former King Of The Ring Champion, and he has had a stalwart presence on the roster. Right now perhaps there isn’t anyone else that can have a go at Roman Reigns and his Universal Championship that would make sense, or at least as much sense.

Will this come to fruition? I don’t know dear readers. I sure hope it does, and I think it’s a great idea. Why else would I have written this piece? Right? At 44, he can still go and has had some of the best matches on the roster—both brands. Certainly banger, after banger, after….

Time will tell, but it wouldn’t only be a good idea. It would be well-deserved for this hard-working individual who has been with the company now for 16 years and counting. Hope it happens.

Five must-see matches from Candice LeRae’s career. dark. Next

And for his hard work and his sacrifices made in that squared circle I say in Irish Gaelic to the lad: “Go raibh maith agat” (thank you), and for the battle ahead, I say: “Adh mor ort” (good luck).
