AEW Rampage: Taya issued stipulation for TBS title match
Since arriving on the scene in AEW, Taya Valkyrie has had her sights on Jade Cargill’s TBS Championship. Every time they’ve interacted, Valkyrie has never backed down from Cargill.
The two powerhouses have had brief flareups, but have mostly been separated. “Smart” Mark Sterling previously attempted to serve a cease and desist on “La Wera Loca” to keep her from using the Road to Valhalla/Jaded. That has only made her more defiant as she’s continued to use it to win matches.
Last week after picking up another win with the finisher, Cargill had enough. As she was taking off her heels, Leila Gray got in the ring. She was met by an elbow strike and the Road to Valhalla. After forearm exchanges, Cargill hit Valkyrie with a pump kick and put her in Jaded.
After racking up several wins, it was announced this week that the women would face off against each other on next week’s Dynamite. It’s a little surprising considering this is a high profile match and Double or Nothing is just a few weeks away.
On Saturday’s episode of Rampage, there was a backstage segment with Sterling doing all the talking since the champion was preoccupied with getting glammed up. He announced that he put a special stipulation in the contract for their upcoming match. “Taya Valkyrie cannot use the Jaded in this match. Or the Road to Valhalla or whatever she wants to call it. If she does, she will be disqualified.”
This stipulation seems to be AEW’s out for doing this match so soon. Assuming Valkyrie uses the Road to Valhalla, she’ll be disqualified. Cargill will get the win and maintain her record. If she wins on Wednesday, her record will improve to 56-0.
Winning by DQ easily sets up a rematch forDouble or Nothing. Should Valkyrie win then, she would head into AEW’s month-long excursion in her home country of Canada as the TBS Champion.
