This past Monday night on Raw, Triple H announced the introduction of a new World Heavyweight Championship belt, that would be put on the brand Roman Reigns was not drafted to. More than likely that means the belt is going to be on Monday Night Raw going forward, leaving the question of which superstar should be the first to get their hands on the new piece of gold. There are some names in the upper card of Raw that deserve a look including the likes of Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesnar, and Finn Balor. However, the best fit to be the new World Heavyweight Champion is Seth “Freakin” Rollins.

Rollins racked up several losses in 2022 and now is in a rather random feud vs Omos, leaving his booking needing to be improved heading into the summer of 2023.

Rollins comes out every week to his theme song, which is loudly sung by fans, proving he is one of the most over-stars on Raw.

His connection with fans is exactly why he is a great fit to be the first champion. WWE fans connect with Roman as champion, but it has been long overdue for a face champion to bring the good guy energy back to WWE programming.

Rollins could be the fighting champion that weekly television has needed for over a year, and start feuds with Drew McIntyre if he is drafted to Raw, or a called-up Bron Breakker.

If fans can somehow be invested in the Rollins vs Omos feud heading toward Backlash, Rollins can certainly make fans invested in any World Title feud.

Rollins winning the belt on May 27, 2023, at Night of Champions would start the summer of Rollins running through Summer Slam and could be a reign with the belt that makes Monday Night Raw must-see again.
