Who is the man to beat Orange Cassidy for the AEW International Championship?

Orange Cassidy has defended the AEW International Championship 20 times and is set to face Daniel Garcia this week on Dynamite. Now it seems that Garcia doesn’t really stand a chance to become champ just yet, so after this match who should beat Cassidy for the title you ask? Well here are three names that would be perfect to carry on the fighting spirit of the International title by defeating Orange Cassidy.

Number 1: Jay White

If you talk about current overseas wrestling presence there may be no one bigger than Jay White. White recently came into AEW and has now entered a feud with Ricky Starks seemingly ready to culminate at Double or Nothing.

White should win that match and be immediately ready to go after gold in the weeks after. This is the perfect time to let the leader of Bullet Club Gold get into the International Championship picture and defeat Orange Cassidy. White can make the belt important for fans back in Japan where he spent years wracking up gold in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Also, in his faction name, Bullet Club Gold, it won’t be very long until Tony Khan makes the gold part a reality and Jay White may be on the road to a shot vs Cassidy after Double or Nothing. There probably isn’t a better option to represent international wrestling than one of the most recent international stars AEW has brought in.

Number 2: PAC

The man Orange Cassidy beat to become the International Champion has yet to ever get a rematch (WWE rule, I know I know) and deserves one. PAC when part of the trio with Penta El Zero Mideo and Rey Fenix to make Death Triangle was really the standout star of the group. There is a history right there between Death Triangle and Best Friends to immediately call back if the feud between PAC and Orange Cassidy were to be visited.

Assuming PAC is away with an injury right now, Double or Nothing would be the perfect time for him to return. Orange Cassidy can defeat whoever he is defending against, then the lights go out while Cassidy is holding up his signature thumb pose and PAC appears. It’s time PAC goes as solo act again and he can certainly pose a massive threat to Cassidy and his belt.

Number 3: Rush

It seems the steam that had been gained by La Faccion Ingobernable has died down a little, but Rush is a tremendous hard-hitting wrestler that can carry on the great pedigree of weekly competition that Cassidy has set. Rush shined in AEW as a singles competitor last summer facing Jon Moxley to open a Dynamite, and he should be opening shows in the future, potentially defending his Internation Championship he won from Orange Cassidy.

Rush has a current record of 5-1 in 2023 proving he is probably just a few wins away from title contention. Maybe have him win a couple of weeks in a row on Rampage then set up a trios match between  La Faccion Ingobernable and Best Friends with Cassidy and Rush having a showdown in the middle of the ring to set up a showdown between two gifted in-ring stars.

Cassidy should get to 30 wins to really set an example for every champion after him, but Jay White, PAC, or Rush should take his belt from him to leave the belt with a heel.

Next. AEW's success with All In is best for all of professional wrestling. dark
