WWE MITB 2023: 3 Worthy Title Contenders For Asuka
By Mark Justice
WWE MITB 2023 is approximately one month away, and WWE has not yet built any blockbuster feuds for this “premium live event.” However, there are already some rumored matchups, like Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa vs. Usos.
This event is also reportedly taking place in the UK, which means there will be strong support for UK WWE superstars, such as Drew McIntyre, Becky Lynch, Finn Balor, and much more. The following will provide three worthy contenders at WWE MITB 2023 for Asuka, who recently dethroned Bianca Belair to become the Raw Women’s Champion.
WWE MITB 2023 is scheduled to take place on July 1, 2023, live on Peacock. Here are three worthy title contenders for Asuka at WWE MITB 2023.
3.) Shotzi Blackheart
Shotzi Blackheart does not necessarily have the momentum for a title shot at the moment. She replaced Liv Morgan and failed to win the tag titles with Raquel Rodriguez, even eating the submission to Ronda Rousey on Raw.
Those tag titles would have allowed her and Raquel to be on both brands together. However, since she is on SmackDown and Raquel is on Raw, they will no longer be a team. That opens up Shotzi to pursue her singles run again. As a vibrant babyface, she can put on a show and even redeem herself from her Survivor Series title match against Rousey.
2.) Bianca Belair
Bianca Belair would be the most obvious opponent for Asuka at WWE MITB 2023 since she has a rematch clause to invoke. Belair will want her revenge against Asuka in their ongoing trilogy, especially after mist went into her face and led to the end of her 400+ day title reign.
Now that Belair won at WrestleMania and Asuka dethroned her, they are 1-1 and would need to settle the score at MITB. Hopefully, there is a special stipulation added to their title match that culminates the feud on a decisive note and avoids the repetitiveness of their prior matches.
1.) Iyo Sky
Iyo Sky would be the ultimate dream opponent for Asuka at WWE MITB 2023 due to their history in promotions like Pro Wrestling Wave and how well their technical in-ring skills will mesh. From a storyline perspective, this match would work best for Iyo Sky as a babyface. She had received a huge babyface crowd reaction when she battled Belair for the title at Backlash this year.
Breaking away from Bayley will be the key to her babyface turn, as Damage Control has lost too many tag title matches to be worth saving at this point. Once she turns babyface on Bayley, she will be ready for Asuka.
