The WWE US Title is in a holding pattern and these are three men that can elevate the championship.

Austin Theory’s run with the United States title has not gone great for his character development. Theory is approaching a top 10 all-time longest rain with the title, in his second run as champion. However, Theory hasn’t done too many interesting things as a champion.

It is time for WWE to take the championship off of Theory, and worry about developing his character, not strapping him with a championship, and keeping his stories inconsequential. These are three wrestlers that would make for a great next United States champion.

LA Knight

YEAH! LA Knight is the obvious choice to defeat Austin Theory for the United States title. Knight is a top five most popular WWE Superstar at the moment and WWE needs to capitalize on the popularity of Knight, and although fans were begging for him to win the Money in the Bank briefcase, a long and important run with the United States championship would work just as well.

Knight with the United States title is the perfect test to see if his popularity is sustainable and if it is, fans will be soon hoping for him to win the big one. WWE has done this with many superstars in the past before they launched them into the main event with Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, Roman Reigns, and Knight could be the next one.

Solo Sikoa

The Bloodline has been the biggest story for WWE in recent memory. While Solo Sikoa has played a vital importance in that story, he is the least important member of the bloodline at the moment. There was a time when Roman Reigns was wanting gold on all of the Bloodline, and Sikoa went on to win the NXT North American championship before dropping it a week later.

It would be interesting for Reigns to demand Solo to win championships, and keep the broken Bloodline as royalty with gold. It would be a very easy story for WWE to tell, as Sikoa could make quick work of Theory, giving Theory a story of working his way back up and Sikoa could have a dominating United States Championship run.

WWE could easily put on some classic matches where Sikoa defends the United States title against the likes of Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and someone hard-hitting like Sheamus. WWE could possibly create their own Gunther-like champion on the Blue brand.

Santos Escobar

The formation of the LWO saw a ton of potential with all the stars. Santos Escobar is the brightest new star of the group for the men’s side, alongside Zelina Vega. After Backlash, it looked like LWO had the potential of being the next big faction in the WWE, and the company has seemingly dropped the ball with almost all of its members.

Escobar is losing far too much but still has the potential to be a great mid-carder. Escobar versus Austin Theory could be a great storyline, with a few ultimately culminating in Escobar winning the United States title and making the LWO much more of a force in the WWE.
