Three fresh opponents for TBS Champion Kris Statlander

“Legit” Leyla Hirsch

Since returning from a torn ACL, “Legit” Leyla Hirsch has exclusively wrestled for Ring of Honor, working to win over Maria Kanellis-Bennett and even challenging dominant ROH Women’s World Champion Athena on a recent ROH episode. But, the 27-year-old has unfinished business in AEW, particularly with Statlander.

Hirsch and Statlander have split two singles meetings in AEW, but Hirsch owns the more recent victory (Revolution 2022), and her win was impactful enough to force Statlander to shed the space alien aspect of her gimmick. Unfortunately, Hirsch succumbed to injury before the two could develop their nascent feud. Now that Statlander is the TBS Champion, AEW has an opportunity to revisit this grudge.

With Statlander taking on anyone who wants a TBS Title shot, it wouldn’t take much creative work to get Hirsch into contention for the gold. Even something as simple as Hirsch coming out to challenge the champion could get things rolling. An attack on Statlander, given their history, would be even better.

We already know these two can hold up their end of the bargain once the bell rings. As seen in her match with Athena, Hirsch hasn’t lost a step in the ring, so if the promotion finds a way to heat up a potential match, these two could put together something great.
