Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso will retain the titles on WWE Raw

On this week’s Raw Season Premiere, the scheduled main event is Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso defending their Undisputed Tag Titles against Judgment Day in a FastLane rematch. On the surface, it may seem that Judgment Day will win the tag titles back just like Dirty Dom did when he took the title back from Trick Williams in NXT. However, main roster booking is a lot more sensible than NXT booking. Since Cody and Jey already teased a future title match with Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso, they will retain the titles in the main event for a happy ending to the Season Premiere.

It was initially surprising that Rhodes was not the individual who was traded to SmackDown after announcing Jey Uso’s trade to Raw. However, the tag titles are used as a gateway to SmackDown, and Cody has already used those titles to have an epic faceoff with the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns. This shows that winning the tag titles does not mean that Cody is done with finishing the story. The tag titles, which are eminently important to The Bloodline, may be the sole reason he gets even closer to finishing that story. In WWE, pro wrestling truly has more than one royal family.
