GUNTHER

Gunther is another individual on WWE’s roster that Will Ospreay has faced in the past. They’ve competed in two singles matches in 2018, both of which received strong ratings from wrestling fans and critics. But as with the idea of a match against Ricochet, Gunther and Ospreay are in two different places than they were five years ago.

Gunther is not only one of the most important wrestlers on the WWE roster, but perhaps in all of wrestling today. His run as the Intercontinental Champion has elevated mid-card titles in the largest company in the business – highlighting why it is important to have a strong mid-card for the roster. He doesn’t feel like a champion who is “less than” in any way, and WWE has done a great job of presenting him in such a way. Now that he holds the record for the longest IC title run in history, there is no telling when he will drop the belt or to whom.

Gunther versus Will Ospreay is 100 percent a main-event level feud in WWE or any wrestling company. These two individuals could main event an evening of WrestleMania and the entire wrestling community would watch, even those that detest the WWE product. That is the way these two men have been elevated in recent years and getting them back into the ring together would be a fantastic contest for WWE.
