The excitement for the return of CM Punk is at an all-time high. But, it’s got me wondering now that he is back in WWE, does Cody Rhodes still finish his story?

Going into WrestleMania 39, everyone anticipated Cody Rhodes to finally dethrone “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns and “finish the story.” Throughout many successful decades, the Rhodes family hasn’t been able to capture the WWE Championship.

Whether it was the right or wrong decision for Rhodes to lose to Reigns at WrestleMania is irrelevant. The main concern now is with the addition of Punk to WWE, will the company backtrack or alter their plans for Rhodes?

Throughout his return to WWE, Rhodes has become arguably the top babyface in the entire company. In January, it will be an entire year since Rhodes returned at the Royal Rumble. Since then, the only gold he has held was the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships with Jey Uso. The two only held those belts for nine days.

After his win over The Judgement Day at Survivor Series in the War Games match, Rhodes now has a fresh slate and can again set his sights on the grand prize. I couldn’t imagine WWE bringing back Rhodes, to not have him win the WWE title at some point. As we know in this business, things do change, but Rhodes is still just as over as he was at the beginning of the year.

As I type this, Punk is not officially on a show’s roster. He is currently listed under the current superstars, per the WWE website. That will determine when and how CM Punk alters any decisions moving forward that could affect when Rhodes will finally finish his story. There are so many top-level guys in the company now, and adding Punk only complicates things even more for the WWE title picture. It only complicates things temporarily. Rhodes will indeed finish the story and will fulfill his family’s legacy.

If for whatever reason he doesn’t, he won’t be because of the addition of Punk. Not to be that guy, but what if Punk still can’t control his ego? Would if he hasn’t learned anything and isn’t able to co-exist? It could be a quick crash and burn for his tenure in WWE.

Possibly, Rhodes wins the Royal Rumble back-to-back to headline WrestleMania again? This time against a Bloodline that is a lot weaker than before. There are a variety of different scenarios, but one thing is for certain — Rhodes will finish the story.

Next. The return to WWE is CM Punk's last chance. dark
