Jay White is the man to take the AEW International Title from Orange Cassidy

It is time for Jay White to get a run as a champion in All Elite Wrestling and that should come at the cost of Orange Cassidy to kick off 2024.

While fans knew that Jay White was one of the best in the world heading into the end of his deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling, he’s emerged as one of the key members of the AEW roster. Seeing him on a national North American platform continues to elevate awareness of his abilities as a pro wrestler. So much so, that looking ahead to 2024 this should be the year that he picks up his first AEW gold. And that title should come off the waist of Orange Cassidy.

Orange Cassidy has put together a Wrestler of the Year campaign in 2023. His two reigns as the AEW International Champion total 396 days (as of December 19) and along the way he’s picked up big wins. Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Lance Archer, Daniel Garcia, Bandido, and many more have dropped bouts with him along the way. Cassidy has not only elevated himself, but the status of that belt which is still fairly new in its creation. White would be the perfect name to continue that legacy.

White did all he could do in NJPW, holding nearly every singles title available to him. Yet, some still questioned if he’d be seen as a top star in AEW. The AEW World Championship has avoided him the same way it’s avoided most people, but that doesn’t mean White can’t be the man who takes the International title into its next phase.

First, the build around OC versus White would be fantastic, melding both comedy and excellent wrestling. Throw in the likes of Juice Robinson and The Gunns for additional measure and that would only increase the fun. Having White pick up the victory would give Cassidy the send-off many expected with Moxley while giving White the big victory over a top stop on AEW that he needs.

From there, White and BC Gold as one of the focal points across AEW content would continue to get praise from fans all around. White is a beloved figure who hasn’t missed yet. Pairing him against the likes of Andrade, Rush, Mark Briscoe, or any of the other talented men in the AEW mid-card would be the right decision, there are a lot of ways the company could go. Either way, the fans would be the winners getting a strong mix of wrestling and sports entertainment along the way.

Jay White is a main event superstar and regardless of where he would have signed after NJPW, the fans who watched would have learned that fact. While he may be out of the picture for the main title, he’s the right man to take the AEW International Championship from Orange Cassidy early in 2024.
