3 ways professional wrestling can improve in 2025
With a new year comes new opportunities to be better than years past. The same could be said of professional wrestling. The industry gives us several amazing moments throughout the year. It doesn’t matter if you’re a fan of WWE, All Elite Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, the independents or whatever – there’s something in wrestling for everyone. There’s also a lot of space in professional wrestling to “do better.” How? Here are three ways the industry can look to improve in 2025.
Distancing Itself From Bad Actors
As with any major industry, especially in sports and entertainment, there are a slew of individuals who could be considered bad actors. These are people who’ve behaved in ways that are disgusting, despicable, and in some ways, outright illegal. Professional wrestling has always been called a “carny” business. One of the biggest issues with today is that wrestling continues to welcome back some of the most disturbing bad actors. Fans cheer their favorites, regardless of what allegations or missteps they’ve taken in the past.
Tessa Blanchard’s return to TNA shines a light on another individual who was shunned from wrestling shortly but is now trying to find her way back without showing any real contrition for her actions. These are the types of individuals that professional wrestling needs to push away once and for all in 2205 and beyond.
Getting Away From The Online Discourse
The creation of social media was a big benefit to professional wrestling. Unfortunately, that has changed drastically in recent years. The platforms have become bastions of hate toward a lot of things in professional wrestling, sucking away from the enjoyment that is at the heart of the product. Whether its debates about ratings, grifters feigning outrage, or a performer being caught up in a conspiracy theory – there’s always something to be hateful about on social media and wrestling falls into that trap too often. It’s time to kick that trend in 2025.
More Highlights On The Women’s Division
Regardless of promotion, fans continue to call for more time dedicated to the women’s division. The excuses for why this doesn’t happen run long. There was a time when TNA Wrestling stood out as a strong land for women’s wrestling. In the last one to two years, WWE NXT has overtaken them as the best place for women’s wrestling, with several segments and matches dedicated to the ladies every show. There’s a lot of talent waiting to get their moment. It is time it finally happened across all the major organizations.
