3 WWE wrestlers to breakout in 2025
2024 is drawing to a close. There’s a lot from the year to look back at and celebrate across professional wrestling. But, as 2025 looms, this is a time to look forward to the future. With that in mind, here are three names in WWE who are poised to have a breakout year in the new year.
Michin
Michin isn’t a newcomer to the game. She’s inching close to two decades in professional wrestling, and the adulation of her peers proves she’s great at what she does. When looking at the women’s division, Michin doesn’t immediately stand out as a potential champion. She seems stuck in a position where she’s used to getting others over the hump. While she didn’t win any titles in 2024, she remained in the title picture multiple times, and in several big feuds. She popped up in WWE NXT, while being an active member of the SmackDown roster.
Michin had several big moments, including a hilarious dumpster match with Chelsea Green, and facing her in the finals of the WWE Women’s United States Championship Tournament. 2024 was an important year for her career in WWE, and in 2025 let’s hope that she gets some gold around her waist.
Tavion Heights
WWE knew what they were doing when they allowed Tavion Heights to go on an excursion to Japan. Heights was already a talented performer, leaning on his Greco-Roman wrestling background. But he caught the eye of many wrestling fans with his standout run in Japan. He came back to WWE NXT and immediately kept that momentum going. Heights stood out during the tag team match at NXT Deadline and he should be on the short list of performers ready to get a singles run in the new year. That NXT North American Championship or the Heritage Cup would look great in his arms by the end of 2025.
Oba Femi
This may be an obvious choice, as Oba Femi had a strong 2024. According to Cagematch, his 2024 record was 33 wins and 2 losses. Those numbers show just how important he is to the booking on WWE NXT. He came out of NXT Deadline as the winner of the Iron Survivor, and it’s basically a given that he’s going to take the NXT Championship from Trick Williams to start the year. But that should be seen as just scratching the surface. There’s hope that Femi can become a WrestleMania main eventer and he has the potential to do so. Expect him to take that title and go on a year-plus run before being a monster on the main roster akin to how Bron Breakker has been booked so far.
