AEW Dynasty 2025 Predictions: Swerve ends the reign of Jon Moxley

Swerve Strickland won the AEW World Title from Samoa Joe on April 21, 2024, at last year's AEW Dynasty show. Strickland will look to capture that magic again when he battles Jon Moxley at this year's edition of the same show.

The 2025 edition of AEW Dynasty takes place on Sunday, April 6th, at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The card features six announced matches, all of which will have titles on the line. The intriguing thing about this card is that many of these matches have outcomes that could go either way, which will be fun for the fans to watch unfold. While there are sure to be more matches announced for the show next week, let's take a look at the six confirmed matches and what will happen in each.

Ricochet vs "Speedball" Mike Bailey vs Kenny Omega for the AEW International Title

In what is the most predictable match of the night, Kenny Omega will defend his newly won International Title against Ricochet and AEW newcomer, "Speedball" Mike Bailey. This should be a fun match that allows plenty of time for Bailey and Ricochet to show off their offense. But the match AEW is building up to is a title unification match of the International and Continental Titles between Omega and Kazuchika Okada at AEW All In. Both Bailey and Ricochet will get some close near falls, but in the end, Omega will retain the title. Winner: Kenny Omega

Megan Bayne vs Toni Storm for the AEW Women's World Title

Toni Storm will face a challenge unlike any she has faced before when she defends the AEW Women's World Title against Megan Bayne. Bayne has spent the past couple of weeks building momentum for this match by laying Storm out on multiple occasions and even picking up a pinfall victory over the champion in a recent tag team bout.

Storm is so popular right now that it is hard to imagine AEW taking the title off her this soon after winning it back. However, AEW also has a long-running tradition of bringing in new talent to the women's division, having them challenge for the title unsuccessfully, and then letting them drift off to the mid-card. This cannot happen with Bayne. Bayne has everything needed to stay at the top of the card as the powerhouse of the women's division for years to come. AEW needs to capitalize on this at AEW Dynasty. Winner: Megan Bayne

Rated FTR vs Death Riders for the AEW Trios Title

After unsuccessfully trying to take the AEW World Title from Jon Moxley, Cope has turned his sights on the AEW Trios Titles and will team up with FTR to take on the Death Riders. There are two big questions hovering over this match. One, does the frustration that has plagued Dax Harwood recently spill over and cost Rated FTR the Trios Titles, and two, has AEW creative realized the Death Riders story has run its course and that it is time to move in another direction? The hope is that Harwood will keep it together and that, yes, AEW creative has realized it is time to move on from the Death Riders, but we probably aren't that lucky. The more viable outcome is that Dax and Cope continue to have issues, which will eventually set up FTR versus Cope and Christian Cage down the road. Winner: Death Riders

Bandido vs Chris Jericho for the ROH World Title in a title vs mask match

The Ring Of Honor World Title will be on the line in a title versus mask match when Bandido battles Chris Jericho. This has been a well-built story that has become very personal over the past number of weeks. The problem is, most people don't care because of the overexposure to Chris Jericho. This would be the perfect spot to put the ROH World Title on an extremely talented wrestler and for Chris Jericho to get a much-deserved break from AEW television. Winner: Bandido

Adam Cole vs Daniel Garcia for the TNT Title in a no time limit match

After a couple of contests that produced no clear winner due to outside interference and a time limit draw, Adam Cole and Daniel Garcia will lock up for a third time with the TNT Title on the line in a no time limit, everyone barred from ringside match. Adam Cole came to AEW in 2021 with a lot of hype and big expectations. Thus far, Cole's run in AEW has been marred by injuries, which has kept him from really ever getting any consistent momentum. As strange as it may sound, Adam Cole may need to win the TNT Title more than Daniel Garcia needs to retain it at this point. Cole will use some underhanded tactics to win the match and begin a heel turn in the process. Winner: Adam Cole

Swerve Strickland vs Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title

In what will most likely be AEW Dynasty's main event, Swerve Strickland will try to reclaim the AEW World Title when he challenges Jon Moxley. It is not a secret that the culmination of the Death Riders vs AEW story was that an AEW original, Darby Allin, was supposed to rise up and end the reign of Moxley as AEW World Champion.

However, Darby is off preparing to climb Mount Everest, and the Death Riders story is one that many fans are growing tired of. AEW has an excellent opportunity to pivot away from it at AEW Dynasty and put the title back on a deserving champion and, at the same time, freshen up the main event scene with a new direction. The question is, will they? There is no denying that the Darby comeback and eventual win over Moxley would be exciting, but can AEW figure out a way to make fans care about the Death Riders storyline in the meantime? Probably not. It is time to pivot back to Swerve as AEW Champion and time for some new directions for the company heading into the summer. Winner: Swerve Strickland
