Andrade has left WWE, as reported by Fightful Select on Saturday, September 13. This was surprising news, as Fightful reported that he had more than 18 months on his deal.

According to Fightful’s report, Andrade’s exit had been “in the works.” His planned departure also impacted the creative direction for WWE Clash in Paris, where he and Rey Fenix were rumored to be teaming to take on the Wyatt Sicks. Andrade last appeared at SummerSlam, where he took pack in the Six Pack TLC match.

Andrade returned to WWE in 2024 as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. This came on the heels of leaving All Elite Wrestling, where he had a less-than-stellar run and exit from the company. According to Fightful’s report, AEW was under the impression that he was going to sign an extension, but then informed them that he wouldn’t, which impacted creative plans at the time. Fightful’s sources also pointed out that they had no idea Andrade would be leaving AEW and that “no bridge is truly burned in AEW.”

Andrade’s time in WWE was met with criticism, as he was one of those talents who fans considered underutilized. In 2025 alone, he had 19 matches, only five of which were singles matches. There were many who hoped that Andrade would at least reach the status of midcard champion, but that never came to fruition. He participated in an interesting feud against Carmelo Hayes, which is perhaps the most interesting work either man did while on the main roster.

It will be interesting to see where Andrade turns up next. He’s performed all over the world, in some of the biggest organizations in wrestling. That includes stints with CMLL and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Do not expect him to show up in AAA or TNA Wrestling, as one organization has been acquired by WWE and the other is locked into a multi-year partnership. New Japan seems like a viable option, as that promotion has lost several top stars in recent years. But do not be surprised if there’s hesitation to bring in another foreign talent as other top Gaijin stars continue to leave the company.

Fightful also reported that Andrade’s departure is not linked to any additional roster cuts.

Andrade is an exceptional wrestler and one who looks the part as a superstar. It was unfortunate to see him rarely used in an effective manner during this run in WWE. Fans will be paying close attention to where he shows up next.
