WWE Night of Champions is set for Saturday, June 28. The show comes with its own set of controversies, but that will not stop WWE from moving forward with the show that features several big matches heading into SummerSlam. One of those matches is the Women’s Queen of the Ring finals that pits Jade Cargill against Asuka. Looking at the current title picture on both shows, Asuka is the best pick to come out with the win.
Asuka is one of the most beloved performers on the WWE roster. From her time running rampant in WWE NXT, to the success she’s found on the main roster, Asuka has garnered a strong fan following, and she deserves it. While there are some who will continue to argue that she hasn’t been booked well, she’s still found a way to win nearly every title that was available to her, multiple times.
But this return from injury feels like the most important run for her to date. WWE is stacking its roster with younger, well-liked performers, and it is easy to see someone like Asuka being lost in the shuffle. Not as any detraction to her abilities, but WWE’s penchant for the younger performers when it comes to the women’s division. This run can go a long way in bucking that trend and proving that she remains a force on this roster.
Plus, there’s the opportunity to book IYO Sky versus Asuka for SummerSlam. Fans may have an opinion or not on what stands out as a potential “dream match” on the WWE roster, but there’s no debating a singles match between these two women. Not only are these two perhaps the best two in all of women’s wrestling, but they also have years’ worth of a story that can be told between them. This would be a testament to their contributions to professional wrestling and a history-making moment as well. From a positive PR stance, booking Asuka versus IYO Sky is the best direction to go.
Jade Cargill’s in-ring abilities still raise questions
Look, Jade Cargill looks the part. She looks like a superhero crafted out of our favorite comic books of today and generations past. Yet, she is still struggling to consistently perform in the ring. She has some moments that stand out well, such as her singles match against Naomi at WrestleMania 41, but those moments are far from the norm. Something isn’t quite clicking, and it is apparent when looking at the timing of her matches.
Will Cargill eventually be ready for the main event? Perhaps. But she’s not ready right now, and it shows. WWE can continue to bring her along slowly, however the right call to make is for her to lose this match to Asuka.
When the 2025 Queen of the Ring is crowned, WWE has to go with Asuka as the winner. She is returning from a lengthy injury and needs a strong run at this time of her career. Plus, IYO Sky needs an interesting story heading into SummerSlam, and Asuka versus Sky is the best way to go.
