The latest episode of WWE Monday Night Raw gifted wrestling fans with one of the best individual spears of all time. In full sprint, Bron Breakker went completely horizontal to lay out Carlito. That clip has garnered more than a half-million views across WWE’s social media platforms. It has led some to debate if Breakker officially has the best spear in wrestling history and that’s a question worth diving into further.
The Spear has been a move used by several top and even lesser-known names throughout the years. Everyone remembers how Bill Goldberg used the move for years, and he certainly deserves to be considered among the best to employ it. Charlotte Flair, Kaitlyn, and Kairi Sane are some performers on the women’s side who’ve used it as well. Ricky Saints, the new WWE NXT North American champion, also breaks out the spear as a staple in his offense. Here are the top three names who’ve used the spear as an important move during their in-ring careers.
Rhyno
Anytime the conversation of the best spears in wrestling comes up, Rhyno has to be in the debate. Rhyno is a former holder of the ECW World Heavyweight, NWA World’s Heavyweight, DDT Iron Man Heavy Metal Championship and several more. He coined his version of the move “The Gore” and delivered it with such a high level of violence each time. Even better, he’s declared that no one has ever kicked out of the move. His logic? If they kicked out, that was regular spear, but if he won the match, that was actually “The Gore.”
Goldberg
Love him or hate him, Bill Goldberg is the man who put the spear on the map. His undefeated streak in WCW from 1997 to 1998 was a fun moment in pro wrestling as he left body after body in his wake with the move. Even as he aged, it still looked believable that taking a spear from Goldberg would leave you in pain. Thanks to the selling of individuals like Nik Nemeth, he almost never looked bad delivering the move.
Bron Breakker
Bron Breakker has the best spear in professional wrestling right now and probably will have the greatest of all time when he’s done. His freakish athletics are almost comical at this point. Seeing him pick up speed and dive into his opponents with reckless abandon is becoming a highlight of Monday Night Raw. Fans stood to their feet when he hit IShowSpeed with the spear at the Royal Rumble and don’t forget he also blasted Roman Reigns with one as well. Bron Breakker is a star of the future and the way he does this move is going to help him get there.
