Bryan Danielson’s wrestling sendoff was handled perfectly. The end of AEW WrestleDream ended in a quite different way. The fans were silent. There was no cheering. No announcement of big matches on the next show. Just a feeling of manufactured fear, concern, and stress that worked exceptionally. The story was told perfectly and can lead to some amazing moments in the future for All Elite Wrestling.

According to Fightful Select, Bryan Danielson’s full-time wrestling career is over, and he was indeed in more physical discomfort than many believed. The report covers his inability to wrestle in many matches leading to this send-off, specifically for his neck which Jon Moxley and company targeted. It was the right way to send Danielson off, who is expected to wrestle periodically and do other things behind the scenes for AEW.

This can be a pivotal moment for AEW. Some are comparing it to the invasion of The Outsiders which led to the formation of the NWO in WCW decades ago. You have Moxley claiming that “this is not your AEW anymore,” and Darby Allin being cast as the role of his icon, Sting. There are a lot of parallels which can lead to some interesting story telling along the way.

Still, it must be said that Danielson’s send-off was handled like a masterclass. Fans thought he’d get something similar to Sting. A standing ovation. A sendoff speech. None of that came. Instead, it was in the way that Danielson cherished the most when it came to professional wrestling. Violence.

Danielson spent the majority of his time in AEW building up the stars for the future, and going out this way leaves the door wide open for several individuals to step up. Names like Daniel Garcia, Private Party, Allin, and several others are considered the “future” of the company. Well, the story is there for them to battle Moxley, PAC, Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli, and apparently Wheeler Yuta for said future.

There are very few things done perfectly in pro wrestling. There will always be someone with a platform somewhere ready to complain. That won’t be the case when it comes to Bryan Danielson’s final moment as a full-time wrestler. This moment was handled as perfectly as can be as it sets up so much for AEW’s future and everyone will remember where they were when this happened. Exciting times to come.
