There are a lot of stars throughout professional wrestling. Regardless of the promotion, there are several names that fans will list when talking about their favorite performers in the industry. With stars like Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Becky Lynch, Mercedes Mone, and Seth Rollins doing fantastic work almost weekly, it’s understandable why the range is so wide. But there is only one Bryan Danielson. He’s in the midst of an exceptional run as a performer and fans must do all they can to take it in before his time is done.

Promoters have talked about building the perfect professional wrestling star and they often describe someone like Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Powerhouse Hobbs, or Brian Cage for example. A bigger, man whose presence can immediately draw attention. Or someone like Kenny Omega or Seth Rollins, whose personality quickly envelopes a room. But in reality, the answer is Bryan Danielson, because he can do everything the individuals above can do and then do things each of them can’t as well.

What’s amazing about Danielson’s career is that it can be broken out into phases and each one of them is worthy of consideration as to why he’s the greatest to ever lace them up. What he’s done since leaving WWE and joining AEW in 2021 embodies the dream situation that wrestling fans around the world didn’t know was possible.

Let’s look at what he’s achieved. His matches against men like Zack Sabre Jr., MJF, Kenny Omega, Adam Page, Kazuchika Okada, Ricky Starks, Eddie Kingston, Jon Moxley, and Minoru Suzuki are some of the best that the industry has seen. Stacking that on top of his resume which includes fantastic matches from both WWE and Ring of Honor further boosts a ledger that didn’t need any additional support.

What’s especially important about this career run he’s on is that he’s making it a point to put people over at the same time. Unlike some other individuals in AEW, Danielson’s rise doesn’t push down any other performers. Along the way, he’s put over individuals like Daniel Garcia, Christian Cage, Andrade, and a few others. While fans push for him to hold the AEW World Championship, Danielson has positioned himself as one that’s a final hurdle of sorts for those who become champions. Almost like he believes his time as a top champion is over and it’s his duty to raise up the individuals that have the hot hand today.

Danielson checks all the boxes when it comes to professional wrestling and sports entertainment. And he does it in a way that makes you forget you’re watching either category. In an industry that has several bad actors and debates where opinions can range widely, there’s one point that is hard to argue. Bryan Danielson is one of the best performers to ever take up this art and deserves all the praise as his career winds down.
