Chris Bey and Vikingo injured during TNA tapings in Detroit
Both Chris Bey and Vikingo experienced serious injuries during the October 27 TNA tapings in Detroit, Michigan.
First, El Hijo del Vikingo went down hard during his match with Trent Seven. Vikingo, who is known for his high-flying abilities, went for a corkscrew to the outside on Seven. The moment he hits the ground, he can be seen grabbing at his leg. The match was stopped, with the referee throwing up the “X” symbol to indicate the injury. He would then be taken out on a stretcher. No word has been released about the specifics of his injury as of this writing.
Moments later, Chris Bey was also injured during the show. During a match with The Hardy Boyz, Bey went down and was lying motionless in the ring. The match and the show were immediately stopped. According to those in attendance, Bey was communicating as he was stretchered out of the ring area. Only the post-show meet and greet continued on after the show.
On Monday, October 28, multiple wrestling media members, and performers expressed support for Chris Bey.
“Sending our best to Chris Bey,” Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful posted on Twitter. “We’ve heard he underwent surgery and is recovering.”
“Man, all the love to Chris Bey,” posted Simon Miller on Twitter. “Aside from being proper talented that man goes out of his way to help everyone. He couldn’t be nicer about giving advice and feedback. Really hope he’s alright and back on his feet ASAP.”
As of the first reports, the details of the injury were being kept confidential. As of this report, TNA Wrestling has not addressed the injuries on social media.
