The September 24 episode of AEW Dynamite featured a major announcement from Tony Khan. The women's division is getting a new championship, as the AEW Women's World Titles were unvieled. It's a move that fans have long called for, and another opportunity to highlight the women on the roster.

AEW has a stacked women's division. There are a slew of veterans and young talent throughout the show, and when Ring of Honor is thrown into the equation that depth grows. Adding the tag team titles creates another "prize" for these performers. But it is also worth note that there's some concern over the development as well.

AEW hasn't done the best job with its women's division. While it is packed with stars like Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone, there are still a lot of firsts for this division to celebrate, even at this point in the promotion's run. Fans still want to see the women's division consistently get more than one match on AEW Dynamite. Fans are pushing for the women to get a Blood & Guts match or to be featured in their own Continental Classic. There are a lot of ways this division should be highlighted, especially since they are consistently one of the more interesting aspects of the show.

There's also the concern that tag team wrestling hasn't had the featured spot it once did. There was a time when the tag division was a draw for AEW, but that has since changed. The team of Brodido has the potential to change that and rebuild some of the momentum. Introducing the women's tag team titles can help as well. There's a lot of excitement about some of the potential pairings, feuds, and matches to come. Leveraging that with ample booking across weekly shows and PPVs will go a long way to rebuild that faith.

Even with that apprehension, this is an opportunity to celebrate. Women's wrestling has carried much of the business, regardless of promotion. Creating a tag team division and titles to chase creates the opportunity to get more women on television. AEW's roster is ready for that moment, and this has the potential to be seen as a huge win.
