Former AEW champion Sting announces 2025 is his last year in 'war paint'
Sting's in-ring career officially came to an end at AEW Revolution last March after he and Darby Allin defeated the Young Bucks. He debuted in the company at "Winter Is Coming" in 2020. His first match was a cinematic match at Revolution the following February and his first in-ring match at Double or Nothing. He wrestled 19 matches over the course of his AEW career.
"The Icon" has kept a busy schedule of appearances across the country. When he does appearances and signings, you get the full Sting experience: full makeup. If you want the full Sting experience, 2025 is your last chance.
Con Queen, Kimmy Sokol, broke the news on social media that "2025 will be Sting's last year on the convention scene in gear and face paint. There are a bunch of dates lined up for the remainder of 2025. So make sure to be on the lookout for "The Icon" to some to a city near you."
At the same time as Sokol's social media post, Sting himself posted about his decision. "I have enjoyed meeting fans at events around the world. As much as I have loved interacting with you all in the traditional Stinger war paint, I've decided that 2025 will be my last year appearing in full gear. I guess it's 2025 or never. Wow. Tough to speak that out."
Over the weekend, Sting had his first appearance since the announcement. He appeared at OG Collectibles in LA for a signing. Sting looked a bit different than fans are used to, sporting a beard and grey hair. He posted a video with highlights of the event and asked where he should go next.
Sting does not have a website, so to find out if the former AEW Tag Team Champion is coming to a city near you, follow him on social media. You can also check the appearance list at conventions and collectible stores.
