AEW Double or Nothing lived up to expectations and somehow pushed them even higher. Will Opsreay and “Hangman” Adam Page worked to a level that everyone knew they could hit, but they still went beyond. Page picked up the win, punching his ticket to All In to face Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship. With this victory and the run that may follow, Page deserves consideration that he is the best in the business today.
Adam Page’s six-year tenure in AEW has produced some of the best work across all professional wrestling. He’s checking every box necessary to deserve not only praise, but admiration for what he pulls off on a weekly basis. When looking at what critics frequently discuss as aspects of great pro wrestling or sports entertainment, Page is doing it all.
“Hangman” Page’s character work remains the best in wrestling
Adam Page is playing one of the best characters around today and possibly throughout all time. He’s gone through character transformations along the way that make perfect sense when you look at what he’s gone through as a central part of AEW.
When things started, he was the “chosen” one. He was a member of The Elite and the one who most expected to capture the inaugural reign as the AEW World Champion. That didn’t happen, causing him to spiral into a depressive cycle, doubting his friends and his abilities along the way.
He would finally work his way to the top, defeating Kenny Omega to take on an unnamed role as AEW’s “protector.” That role would put him directly opposite of some of the top names in the company, including Swerve Strickland. Their feud elevated not only their careers, but the level of storytelling capable in AEW. Some argued about the level of violence in the match, but it fit what they were going for and represented a level of hatred that fit the angle.
Now, Page is once again at the top of the card. He’s facing down another “threat” that is attempting to cause harm to what he’s come to love in AEW. It makes perfect sense that he’s in this position and he’s the man to unseat Jon Moxley. Anything less than that would be met with widespread backlash across wrestling. All In must end with Page holding that AEW World Championship over his head in victory.
Don’t overlook “Hangman” Page’s in-ring ability
While Adam Page gets a lot of praise for his character work, his in-ring is just as good as anyone else in wrestling today. Look at his catalog on Cagematch if you want to argue that point. He currently has a 9.01 overall rating and has held a rating of 9 or higher since 2021. Few people can match that level of excellence in the ring.
Does he have great dance partners? Sure, but that does not detract from what he’s able to do every time the bell rings. Page versus Ospreay at Double or Nothing 2025 was an instant classic. His match against Kyle Fletcher on April 30 is easily one of the best television matches of the year so far. He’s been involved in so many great matches that any time his music hits it is best to believe that “business is picking up.” Page can be counted on to give fans a wrestling match worth rewatching.
“Hangman” Adam Page is the best performer in professional wrestling today and that is not a controversial take. He checks all the boxes and gives fans 100 percent every outing. He’s moving on to take on Jon Moxley in a few weeks and it is time for him to reach the top of the ladder once again.
