Hulk Hogan’s name was surging across social media Wednesday morning as several names were reporting that he was in the hospital in serious condition. However, TMZ reported that those rumors were untrue and he was in the hospital for back and neck issues.

According to TMZ Staff, Hogan, 71, was hospitalized for “lingering neck and back issues, but he is by no means on his deathbed.” The report goes on to say that a rep for Hogan confirmed that he was getting those lingering issues checked and that he was “back to moving around already.” Hogan reportedly underwent neck surgery back in May, one of several surgeries he’s had over the years.

The rumor started when Bubba the Love Sponge stated that he heard Hogan was not doing well. According to him, Hogan’s loved ones were called to speak to him one last time. That caused the speculation leading to several media members to look for confirmation.

Hulk Hogan remains one of the most controversial figures in wrestling today

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan is one of the most controversial figures in the business today. He went from being the iconic performer who solidified so many wrestling fans decades ago, to being a maligned individual for racist and problematic statements and actions throughout the years.

So much so, WWE attempted to distance itself from Hogan, only to welcome him back. Since then, he’s appeared on WWE television in various capacities, only to be widely booed whenever his music hits. Currently, Hulk Hogan’s likeness typically appears during WWE programming to promote a new product known as “Real American Beer.”

Hulk Hogan had a 34-year career which spanned the largest promotions in wrestling including the WWE, WCW, and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Along the way he’d pick up multiple championships in each company, even becoming one of the first foreigners to hold the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
