It is time for The House of Black to go on a strong run

Julia Hart, Buddy Matthews, and Brody King should go on strong runs of their own in 2025.

It looks like All Elite Wrestling is set to retool the House of Black. Rumors abound of Malakai Black either being done with the company or wrestling entirely. On January 22, Julia Hart was defeated by Jamie Hayter, and immediately after the company showed a video of Hart, Brody King, and Buddy Mattews restating their purpose in AEW. This is an opportunity to craft these three performers into a force in both the tag team division and as singles performers.

Starting with Julia Hart, her position in the AEW Women’s Division is a bit unclear. The former TBS Champion has gone 1-1 against the former AEW Women’s Champion in Hayter. Hart was also pinned in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet Battle Royal. Is Hart still considered a top contender or is she being pushed back down the roster a bit? Right now, she seems a bit behind the formidable members of the women’s division.

Hart is only 23 years old, so there’s plenty of time to see her develop into a top name in the division. At some point in time, Hart will be the AEW Women’s World Champion. The question is whether the House of Black will be by her side when that happens.

Then there’s Buddy Matthews and Brody King. At first glance, these two individuals would be a force in the tag team division. AEW has new tag team champions in The Hurt Syndicate. Who would not want to see a match between King, Matthews, Shelton Benjamin, and Bobby Lashley? That’s the type of match that would immediately light a spark in the entire division.

But what about as singles performers as well? AEW hinted at the possibility of Matthews not only going on his own but involving himself in the angle between Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega versus the Don Callis family. That doesn’t seem to be the plan any longer. King has had his own singles run as well, being a force in the AEW Continental Classic. Still, there’s hope that both men could eventually go one extended runs on their own.

Fans had a lot of hope for The House of Black. They’ve obtained some gold, but the group never truly became the force fans wanted to see. Now that Malakai Black is supposedly gone from AEW, here’s to seeing Julia Hart, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews branching out for their own success.
