It didn't take long for fans to grown about JC Mateo's, formerly known as Jeff Cobb, presentation on WWE SmackDown. He looked like a NPC in a video game, rather than an epic threat to the rest of the WWE roster. That's OK though, there's still hope that WWE will let him show the full breadth of his talents. These are three big matches that will help him get that level of reaction.

GUNTHER

Jeff Cobb and Gunther have battled in the past. They last battled in 2018, at PWG Smokey and the Bandido when Cobb took the PWG title from Gunther in a near-20 minute affair. What's even more interesting is the fact that Gunther has never defeated Cobb in a one-on-one match. At some point, these two giant men should face off in WWE to see if that trend continues, or if Gunther truly is a different person than he was years ago.

Jacob Fatu

At some point, Jacob Fatu and JC Mateo will battle. Solo Sikoa is acting like he's looking out for Fatu's best interest, but anyone familiar with professional wrestling knows that the battle between Fatu and Sikoa is coming. But before they get to that point, Mateo and Fatu will cross horns in what will be a rubber match between the two. They currently have a 1-1 record against one another, with the last match being back in 2021 where Mateo came out on top to take the APW Universal Heavyweight Championship. Fatu is a biggest star now and one of WWE's newest acquisitions, so expect Mateo to be on the losing end in what will be a huge hoss battle.

Rusev

Rusev is in an interesting spot now that he's returned to WWE. Is he going to be the main event threat fans wanted him to be five-to-six years ago, or is he destined to remain in the midcard before being stuffed off in catering once again? That question can go either way. Still, at some point he and JC Mateo should lock hornds in what would be a fun match with two exceptionally strong men on the roster.
