Jacob Fatu has the potential to be a major WWE superstar
Everyone knew that WWE signing Jacob Fatu would be a big deal. Those familiar with her performances in other companies were well aware of what he could do in pro wrestling. But in a few short months, he’s become one of the most interesting aspects of the WWE roster. It’s clear WWE has a future champion in their midst, but he may be an even bigger star than that.
At 32 years old, Fatu stands out as a part in The Bloodline angle. His presence is that of an ever-looming threat, one that can go off like a sensitive bomb at any moment. WWE has smartly kept him out of singles matches thus far in his run with the company. That’s not to “protect” him as he develops his ability to work. No, those that know are informed that Fatu can put on a showcase match. It’s more to protect his aura while adding to it at the same time. Which is working and working well.
The company has hinted at several big matches for Fatu’s future. He’s squared off against Roman Reigns, Bron Breakker, and Cody Rhodes just to name a few. But think about some of the others on the horizon. Matches against Oba Femi, GUNTHER, Ilja Dragunov, Sheamus and several others. Fatu may have one of the most anticipated series of matches in front of him compared to any other new signing in professional wrestling.
For those unfamiliar with Fatu’s history, it is easy to hop online to find some of his standout matches and feuds. While in MLW, he held the MLW World Heavyweight Championship for 819 days, leading to one of the biggest feuds in wrestling outside a major company. He and Alex Hammerstone were booked as big-time champions when they faced off in 2021, leading to their title versus title match at MLW Fightland 2021. He has other standouts against the likes of Mike Bailey, Bronson Reed (then known as JONAH), Lio Rush, Bandido, and others. Fatu is a consummate professional wrestler and should be seen as such.
All Elite Wrestling took an early lead in the 2024 free-agency race. The company snatched up some big names and looked like they’d pull away throughout the year. But WWE was able to rebound of sorts, signing several important names to the roster as well. Jacob Fatu is one of them and he has the potential to be an even bigger star than some of the other names who stepped into new companies this year.
