"The Last Time Is Now" Tournament has the potential to be a big moment to close out 2025. Not only is John Cena's final match going to garner a lot of attention, but there's a lot on the line for the future of WWE. The tournament and the December 13 episode of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event will feature several young performers. One of those names is Je'Von Evans. Evans is set for a huge matcha against GUNTHER, a match that has the potential to set Evans up in an important way.

Now, let's get the obvious out of the way. Je'Von Evans is not going to defeat Gunther. The Ring General is returning after more than three months away. His last match was a 30 minute battle against CM Punk, one of WWE's better matches of the year. There's no way that Gunther is going to lose this match. But that is not the point.

The point of this match is yet another example of WWE taking steps to showcase Je'Von Evans. The North Caolina native has quickly become one of the more popular performers on the roster. At 21 years old, he is a beacon of light in what has become an old men's division. He's continued to stand out as a part of WWE NXT, and it is surprising that WWE hasn't put a singles title on him yet. At this point, it doesn't need to happen because Evans has surprassed holding any of those titles.

In fact, this match against Gunther has the potential to do more for him than holding any of those belts. This can be Evans' moment that is compared to the moment John Cena confronted Kurt Angle decades ago. It is a moment that put Cena on the map, long before he'd become the character and superstar that he is today. This can be a similar career-defining moment for Evans and all he has to do is go out and have a great match against one of the best wrestlers in the world today. Not asking for too much, right?

Evans already has several entries on his WWE resume that stand out as excellent matches. Take his recent one-on-one affair with Oba Femi. That match surprised many people. Then there are others like his matches against Ethan Page, or when he and Cedric Alexander took on Fraxiom. Evans is a talented star and it is about time more people had the chance to find out.

Je'Von Evans versus GUNTHER is going to be a fun match for everyone involved. The spotlight will be on Evans and if he delivers, this can be the moment that launches him into stardom for years to come.
