WWE broke news on Monday morning, posting a video of Kairi Sane showing up in Greenville before the May 19th episode of Monday Night Raw. It has been five months since Sane's last appearance and this kicked off speculation that she'll be involved in a major angle.
The last time Kairi Sane competed on WWE Raw, she along with current WWE Women's World Champion IYO Sky, were defeated by Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez in only four minutes. Reports were that she suffered an arm injury that forced her off the show. She's recently posted videos of her training and working out, leading to the speculation of her eventual return.
Where does Kairi Sane fit in the WWE Raw women's division
Kairi Sane's return comes at an important time as there are several different ways she can fit into the division.
IYO Sky was locked into a feud with Roxanne Perez and Giulia. One that looks to be over as Perez and Giulia split up backstage and the latter is now on WWE SmackDown. That creates a void of challengers for Sky, but Sane would be an interesting solution to that problem.
Kairi Sane and IYO Sky have years of history together as partners and foes dating back to their time in Japan. Fans have long wanted to see them get the opportunity to compete against each other. In many ways, this would be a dream match put together on the biggest of stages that the WWE could offer. Perhaps Sane's return points toward the start of an angle heading in that direction.
There's also the Money in the Bank qualfying matches set to continue for the next few weeks. With that PLE on June 7, WWE will work to fill out both the men's and women's ladder matches. Sane would be a great addition to that match as well. She's had standout moments in similar matches. Think back to when she and Asuka defended the women's tag team titles against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch in a TLC match. Sane is an amazinng worker and she'd be a popular option to capture the briefcase this year.
Kairi Sane is one of the best women's wrestlers in the world. It looks like she's heading back to in-ring action, so there's hope she will get more of an opportunity to show off those talents.
