Kenny Omega is going to be a huge return when he's back in AEW
The injury bug runs rampant in professional wrestling. There are several names throughout the business who are out with injury. One of the biggest is Kenny Omega. It has been nearly a year since the “Best Bout Machine” stepped into the ring. With his return seemingly on the horizon, his comeback will be a huge moment for All Elite Wrestling.
Omega has been out since December 2023 battling a severe case of diverticulitis. This came after missing a lot of 2022 with additional injuries. Still, Omega remains one of the most important people on the AEW roster. Fans are waiting for his return and there are several big matches against individuals like Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, Konosuke Takeshita, and others waiting for him.
Omega was recently involved in a brawl with Gabe Kidd, a shocking situation to see Omega take so many direct bumps. Expectations are that he will appear at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19, and potentially compete at AEW Wrestle Dynasty. These shows are scheduled for January 4 and 5 respectively, hailing from Tokyo, Japan. Regardless of where Omega returns, fans around the wrestling world are looking forward to the moment.
At 41 years old and dealing with so many injuries, it will be interesting what version of Omega returns. Surely, he will attempt to give fans the same types of matches he’s known for, but at the same time, fans should not be surprised to see some scaling back of the big bumps and pace. Omega is such a skilled performer that he’ll certainly find new wrinkles to add to his game and presentation. That is what has made him such a fan favorite for years.
All Elite Wrestling has a stacked roster, and that is certainly true at the top of the card. Yet, when Kenny Omega returns the promotion will get back one of its biggest stars, and they’ll get them back at a time when he’s needed the most. There are a lot of stories that need Omega’s presence, and here’s to hoping he can remain healthy for an extended run this time.
