Fans were left wondering after WWE Monday Night Raw as Liv Morgan announced she’s set to leave for Hollywood. Wednesday night, Deadline revealed the actual role in which she was cast. Morgan is set to be a part of Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo. Rosy Cordero of Deadline broke the news.

Morgan is set to appear aside Shun Oguri and Lily James. The film will be directed by Takashi Miike. The synopsis is that the Bad Lieutenant played by Oguri will find himself in a new case to investigate the disappearance of a politician’s daughter played by Mogan. The movie will be set for foreign sales at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

This is a huge opportunity for Liv Morgan’s career

The wrestling to Hollywood pipeline is strong, especially in WWE. Names like The Rock, John Cena, and Batista paved the way for stars to make the jump from the ring to the big screen. Others like Mercedes Mone broke through with roles in the Mandalorian. Morgan would be the first woman from WWE to make a big landing if this movie role plays out well in her favor.

NEON Rated, LLC is an independent film company which has found itself strong success in recent years. This is the company that is recognized for Parasite, Longlegs, The Monkey, Anora, and several more. Anora picked up several awards during the last cycle, including being nominated for five Golden Globes, seven British Academy Film Awards, and six Academy Awards.

As of this writing, there is no update on when Morgan is set to leave WWE to begin work on the movie, how long she will be gone and what WWE plans to do with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Early speculation is that the company will keep the titles on them as a focal point during the promotion of the film, but there’s a strong opportunity for them to remove the titles and put them on another pair to build them up.

Morgan is coming off a strong year where she held the WWE Women’s World Championship for 226 days and picked up the tag team championship for a record-setting third and fourth title reign.
