The free agency race in professional wrestling continues to heat up. Fightful Select broke news yesterday of a major woman’s prospect who many expect to make the jump to All Elite Wrestling. Thekla is done with her obligations to Stardom after three years in the promotion, and backstage expectations are that she’s going to move to AEW in the near future.
“Fightful confirmed that Thekla’s agreement with Stardom has expired, and we can also confirm that she is effectively headed to the United States,” the Fightful report mentioned. “Those that we spoke with in AEW believe she is headed to the company.”
The report also mentioned that WWE had interest in Thekla around the time of Giulia’s signing months ago.
Thekla is an interesting name in the women's division
Thekla is a 32-year-old Wien, Osterreich native who is yet another name in the ever-deepening women’s division around the world. Throughout her seven-year career she’s performed in many of the top companies such as New Japan Pro Wrestling and Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling before landing in Stardom since 2022. Along the way she’d capture several titles including the Goddesses of Stardom Championship with Momo Wantanabe, and the Artist of Stardom Championship with Giulia and Mai Sakurai. According to Cagematch, she has a 7.33 match rating with standout contests against the likes of Mayu Iwatani, Rina Yamashita, and Tsukushi Haruka, along with several tag team entries.
If Thekla does move to AEW, she’d join a women’s division that is growing with talent. Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone lead the way, but there are others such as Kris Statlander, Megan Bayne, ATHENA, Thunder Rosa, Hikaru Shida, and others who would pose as interesting opponents.
