WWE NXT has been on a roll for much of the last two years, being one of the better products not only in WWE, but in wrestling entirely. Roadblock is the next PLE up for the Tuesday night brand, and there’s of buzz around this card for several reasons. With TNA Wrestling tied closely to this show, the excitement around it is a testament to how far NXT has come to officially being “back.”
The first thing to talk about when looking at NXT Roadblock is the integration of TNA Wrestling. At first thought, this seemed like one of the biggest aspects of the show, but looking at the card, only two of the five matches feature TNA performers. The Hardy Boyz will take on Fraxiom, while Oba Femi competes against Moose.
The booking for these matches is nearly perfect as well because it doesn’t set up one brand to look weaker than the other. Predictions for these two matches are easy to make. Expect The Hardy Boyz to defeat Fraxiom because only the TNA World Tag Team titles are on the line. The same could be said for Oba Femi versus Moose, as only Femi’s NXT Championship is up for grabs.
This card will further set the tone for the NXT women’s division. Jordynne Grace versus Roxanne Perez is a perfect way to give Grace momentum as Perez moves on to the main roster. To be honest, Grace shouldn’t be on NXT at all, as she’s clearly ready for either SmackDown or Monday Night Raw. But picking up a win over someone as important as Perez immediately slots Grace at the top of the roster.
Speaking of the top of that roster, Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer in a title-versus-title match is odd, but interesting booking. NXT consistently hinted at pitting these two women against each other, but it is odd that it is happening in this way when NXT has a roster packed with performers who could be contenders for both ladies. Plus, Vaquer just won the title and could lose it less than 30 days after capturing it. It doesn’t seem like WWE is planning to book either woman in such a fashion, so expect something to happen that shakes up this match.
NXT Roadblock looks like it is going to be an excellent showcase leading into Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania 41 weekend. NXT continues to stand out each week, and this PLE will do a great job featuring the best this brand has to offer.
