Bronson Reed has the potential to be WWE World Heavyweight Champion
In some ways, WWE is doing a great job in building up new stars. Individuals like Bron Breakker and Tiffany Stratton stand out, but there are several others making their way up the roster. One who is getting a strong push is Bronson Reed. His return to WWE has had its perplexing moments, and exciting ones as well, but all signs point toward a push that could see him reach the top of Monday Night Raw.
“Peculiar” is a word that fits Reed’s run in WWE quite well. He joined WWE in 2019 and after a middling start, he was suddenly pushed into the mid-card title picture. He’d capture the NXT North American Championship on May 18, 2021, defend it once in a Six Man Tag Team Winner Take All Match, then lose it on June 29. Less than six weeks later, he’d be out of the company.
Fans were perplexed at why this happened, as it seemed like WWE was preparing to give him a strong run. He’d go on to be a top name in other companies like TNA and NJPW but would never reach main event status. In fact, the last time he held a championship was that 2021 run with the NXT North American Title.
So, what’s different about this run for Bronson Reed? The answer is yet to come, as everything hinges on how it will play out. Reed kicked things off by squashing Seth Rollins and sending him away, as he needed time off to deal with nagging injuries. WWE has kept him hot in the weeks that followed, but what will happen when Rollins returns? If Reed takes the loss and is pushed back down the ladder, then all this work would be for nothing. But if Reed picks up a victory, then the momentum would be off to the races.
Rollins is a made man within WWE. He doesn’t need to win all the battles, and picking up victories over him should lead to stronger pushes for those on the other end. Reed is someone who needs that boost. He could be elevated the same way GUNTHER was through the mid-card and holding a championship there, but with Bron Breakker holding the Intercontinental Championship, which isn’t possible right now. That means the momentum toward the main roster must continue with a win over Rollins and anyone else who stands in his way.
WWE is doing a great job building the excitement around Bronson Reed. Each week fans cheer as he causes carnage, leaving other men on the roster in his wake. Where does this lead? Hopefully, he will have a run with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, which is a position he has the potential to hold if given the opportunity.
