The September 4 edition of AEW Dynamite was a big go-home show heading into All Out on Saturday. Swerve Strickland was looking to have a joyous moment that turned into “Hangman” Adam Page getting a bit of revenge for burning down his childhood home. That wasn’t the only big segment to advance an angle, as MJF smashed Daniel Garcia over the head with a glass bottle. They are set for an important match at All Out and it is one that Garcia must get the victory.

MJF is a made man in All Elite Wrestling. The longest-reigning AEW World Champion is one who can take a few losses without worrying about losing his position on the roster. He’s the company’s first homegrown star. To be frank, he doesn’t need a big win right now. His momentum wouldn’t be impacted too much.

That’s not the case for Daniel Garcia. Garcia is one of those guys that AEW fans want to see get an opportunity at the top of the card. It looked like it was coming multiple times, just for him to be pushed back down the roster for unexplained reasons. He’s mega-over with the fans heading into this match. The attack from MJF and his return at All In sealed that fact. It would be a major mistake to book Garcia to lose his next big PPV match after that moment.

Looking at Garcia’s match statistics via Cagematch, you can see that he’s been de-emphasized on PPVs each year. He wrestled 10 matches in 2021, 6 in 2022, 4 in 2023, and only 2 so far in 2024. Winning even less frequently over that time. That’s a trend that needs to come to an end.

Giving Garcia a victory over MJF would be the perfect way to introduce him as a top challenger to Bryan Danielson. Think about the history they have in AEW and what it would look like if they battled for the AEW World Championship. Those are the types of angles this company and its fans enjoy.

Daniel Garcia versus MJF is a major match at AEW All Out. It doesn’t involve a title, but it’s a gateway to a championship angle for the winner. With that in mind, it is imperative that Garcia gets the victory and moves on to bigger things in this feud.
