As Naomi and Bayley battled on WWE SmackDown, some news broke outside the ring. Both Jinder Mahal, Xia Li, and Xyon Quinn took to social media to announce they are no longer with the company. Fightful would follow up that both individuals were released, but their statements pointed toward their side of the story.

“I Quit. Maharaja Out,” is all that Jinder Mahal posted on Twitter at 9:24 PM. Fightful would report that the company released him.

Li posted a longer statement five minutes later, thanking the organization.

“It has been over seven years since I joined WWE, and as the first female Chinese superstar, I feel incredibly proud,” Li posted. “I am sincerely grateful to WWE and HHH for welcoming me into this big family.”

These are the first individuals released since that last round of cuts before WWE and UFC merged in 2023.

Mahal’s last match was the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal that kicked off WrestleMania weekend. Before that, he had a series of matches on WWE Main Event, and during WWE’s road loop. Mahal was a hot topic back in January when he battled Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Title in a match that many felt he didn’t deserve nor made sense. It was the same match that Rollins would injure his knee and jeopardize his status for WrestleMania 40.

Li was also featured on Main Event. Her last match was back on April 15, when Natalya defeated her. Before that, she wrestled Ivy Nile in defeat back on February 26. Li saw a small push during her time on WWE NXT, but neither that push nor her arrival on the main roster really led to anything big.

Xyon Quinn was also cut from the company. He had a modest run while on NXT as well, but only had one match in 2024, and that was back on March 1 when he was defeated by Bron Breakker in six seconds.
