This is the start of another week that will be packed with professional wrestling action. All Elite Wrestling is building toward its next big showcase, while WWE is coming off Money in the Bank and NXT Heatwave. Looking at all that has transpired this week, here are three big developments to keep your eye on.

Ricochet to AEW?

AEW Collision featured a perplexing vignette of a man jumping through a portal before a brief glimpse at a silhouette of a luchador. That led social media detectives to break down why or why not this was a signal that Ricochet is heading to All Elite Wrestling. On July 4, Fightful Select reported that Ricochet’s agent was backstage at AEW and that talks between the two sides had occurred. Ricochet’s contract with WWE ended on July 1.

John Cena’s Impending Retirement

John Cena pushed millions of adults to tears when he announced his retirement tour. During Money in the Bank, he made it clear that his time in the ring was coming to an end. He will compete on multiple dates throughout 2025, but that will be the last year he’s in active competition. During the post-event press conference, he made it clear there are 30-40 planned dates which include several PPVs throughout the 2025 schedule. Several mainstream media outlets reported on the news, showing how much of a cultural icon Cena has become. This will be one of the biggest stories to watch in 2025, with several ways it could play out.

Joe Hendry coming back to WWE NXT?

Ethan Page shocked the wrestling world when he walked out of NXT Heatwave with the NXT Championship. He may not have been conscious when he pinned JeVon Evans, but he still got the 1-2-3. However, less than two minutes later he was upstaged when Joe Hendry’s face appeared for a brief second as the show closed. Fightful Select reported there are plans for Hendry to be involved in NXT going forward and that is one big angle to watch for this week and moving forward.
