After years of criticism, Tony Khan is making strides to build the AEW women’s division. Fightful Select reported on Monday that Kamille is All Elite, bringing an end to questions about where the former champion would sign. This acquisition along with the further dedication to actual storylines on the show is a welcome 180 to how the division was presented in the past.

Kamille tweeted that she’d been signed since February, causing a stir of speculation within the IWC. Fightful would confirm that news in the report, stating that she is slated to join AEW and is under contract with that promotion. Kamille was listed as one of the top prospects of 2024, and she’s the latest to join the AEW crew. This comes after a breakout run in NWA where she led the Women’s World Championship for 812 days.

For years, AEW received heaps of criticism for the lack of time given to the women’s division. Khan’s frequent unforced errors when speaking about the group didn’t help. Fast forward to 2024 and the division is heading in a different direction. The story of Toni Storm and Mariah May has captivated fans, allowing Storm to bloom into one of the biggest characters on the show and May to immediately step into a role for which she was perfect. Everyone sees where this story is heading, with May being the perfect woman to end Storm’s run as champion. But getting there is going to be an enjoyable ride.

Storm recently defeated Thunder Rosa at AEW Dynasty, and those two women put on a stellar match. In the past, Rosa would have dropped off television, as there wasn’t any space for secondary stories in the division. That’s not the case any longer as she and former TNA Knockouts Champion, Deonna Purrazzo are locked in their own battle. They had to be pulled apart on AEW Collision, signaling this is going to be a violent battle from start to finish.

Then there’s the angle between Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Mone for the AEW TBS Championship. Many believe this has the potential to be the first women’s match to headline a PPV. It will be Mone’s first match with the promotion and another opportunity for Khan to show that he’s going to do more with the division.

Kamille is a talented performer with a lot of room to grow. Seeing her in AEW will be a nice addition to what is already a deep roster. Here’s to AEW finally listening to the fans and shifting its attention to this division.
