Kazuchika Okada made his debut during the March 6 episode of AEW Dynamite. The introduction was managed perfectly because it paired Okada with two prominent figures in the company, created an immediate feud, and set up a major bout for the future.

The Young Bucks made the surprising “announcement” that Kenny Omega is “fired” from The Elite. Omega is currently on the shelf due to a serious illness and has not competed since December. As they continued to run their mouths, Eddie Kingston came out to confront him. The Bucks predictably attacked Kingston, but what fans did not foresee was Okada coming out to make the save. At least, that was the appearance until he attacked Kingston. The Bucks announced that he’s the newest member of The Elite, much to the shock of the people in attendance and those watching around the world.

First, this sets up a big match for Kingston and Omega. Kingston is the Triple Crown champion and it will be interesting to see how AEW handles that. Will Okada immediately take those titles from his waist, or will some other situation develop from their pending feud? Kingston is a fun part of any rivalry and he’s one of the most believable characters in professional wrestling.

But then there’s what’s to come. Kenny Omega versus Kazuchika Okada is one of the best rivalries in modern wrestling. In singles matches, Kazuchika Okada has a 2-1 record over Omega. Those matches took all the stars that critics had to give out, breaking the ratings system for years to come. Fans have long wanted to witness the next edition of this rivalry. It now looks like it is that much closer to happening.

Kazuchika Okada versus Kenny Omega in 2024 would be a blockbuster. All Elite Wrestling continues to find ways to put on the best professional wrestling matches in the business and this would be right up there with them. It’s the type of match that could anchor an episode of Dynamite or Collision. It could main event an AEW PPV, even if a championship isn’t on the line. Fans are already excited at the possibility.

In less than three minutes, AEW set the tone for Kazuchika Okada’s tenure in the company. He has an immediate foil in Eddie Kingston, new stablemates, and a big feud down the line. That introduction was handled perfectly.
