Mariah May versus Toni Storm will be the 2024 Women's Match of the Year

Heading into AEW All In, there are a lot of great stories being told. Critics can’t complain about AEW being “just matches” as these angles continued to be well-developed before this huge PPV. One of those leading the way is the angle between Mariah May and Toni Storm. With everything that has been built up between the two, May versus Storm will not only steal the show, but this will be the 2024 Women’s Match of the Year.

For the last ten months, AEW has told an intricate story between May and Storm. Each week there were specific developments between the two that are leading to what will be a fantastic culmination between the two at the PPV. Storm went from being the reluctant idol in the eyes of May to being her “lover” in a sense. Now, they are at each other’s throats with May perfectly playing a role that doesn’t necessarily see her as a deranged attacker, but more as the one simply wanting what is best for her career.

The layers between the two add so much to this feud, but then there’s the fact that both are exceptionally capable in-ring performers. Even when she was in WWE, Toni Storm was considered one of the best workers in all of women’s wrestling. She didn’t get the opportunity to display those abilities, but that hasn’t been an issue while in AEW. She has several great entries in her catalog and will surely give several more over her run in the company.

With only five years of experience, Mariah May continues to improve at a rapid pace. AEW has shown itself to be the best company to help her grow at this point in her career, as she’s put on some good matches with every opportunity as a part of this angle.

Toni Storm versus Mariah May will be a fun and brutal battle in the AEW women’s division. Thanks to their great character development, fans are emotionally invested in the outcome. That allows these two to give them what will be an emotional rollercoaster of a match at All In. There will be violence and possibly blood loss by both women. But in the end, this will be an exceptional addition to what has been a strong 2024 in All Elite Wrestling for the women’s division. Expect these ladies to go out there and steal the show, putting on the match that most will remember in the days to follow.
