For the past few weeks on RAW, there has been a tournament where the winner will earn a shot against Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship. While the final match is taking place on the Season Premiere of RAW, there is so much WWE can do to determine who should become the number one contender. The fatal four-way match will feature Ilja Dragnunov, Braun Strowman, Pete Dunne, and the WWE Universe's favorite to win, Jey Uso. Although Jey Uso is likely to challenge Breakker, WWE should go in a different direction. The alternate idea is for Ilja Dragunov to go in line next to Jey.

Ilja has unfinished business with Breakker as he was clawing his way to conquer him all summer. Although Jey is popular vote, there is also a chance of him losing, storywise. Last week, Jey got himself involved with The Judgment Day's business. With that action, he could face severe consequences. One, in particular, is the case of Dominik Mysterio costing Jey his opportunity to chase gold for aiding his ex-girlfriend, Rhea Ripley. Ilja would benefit more from winning the fatal four-way more reasonably than Jey would. It would somewhat redeem the losses he suffered a while back in the King of the Ring tournament and his loss to Breakker.

If Jey were to be victorious, then he might suffer from another failed attempt at winning singles gold. Breakker became the Intercontinental Champion last month at SummerSlam, so it's unlikely he would lose the belt anytime shortly. If Jey is put in the mid-card direction, WWE needs to be more serious with booking Jey. To give him more build, Jey can finish his issues with The Judgment Day. That way, he'll be more than a credible opponent for Breakker. In the meantime, WWE can make Breakker an additional serious champion by giving him another successful title defense against Ilja and then move on to Jey. There is already a story for these two men as no one in Jey's family has ever beaten any of Breakker's relatives. A potential between Breakker and Jey could happen at a huge event such as Crown Jewel because it would be a big moment for Jey to win his first singles championship in front of a large crowd.
